My college friends Stephanie and Dean got hitched over the weekend. They've been friends since high school and finnnnnnnnally got together somewhere around junior or senior year at Western. Look at them now!!

I met Steph when I was working at the ON. She had a radio show at KUGS and let me come guest host with her, which started my college radio infatuation. She introduced me to all of her friends, one of which ended up getting engaged to my Jenny (see post below.)

It alllll comes full circle.

Anyway, I totally creeped on the Facebook pics and it looks like they had perfect weather, and a great time. Hooray for love!

It's warm in my room, so now I'm in a coma. In a coma and surrounded by bags because I went shopping : ( Camera case, new (less fab) onesie, sweater vest, too high heels, jeans, green tshirt dress, scarf, tank.. look at me go..

I walked from my house to Garment District to the Galleria and home in my cheapo slipons I bought for the trip.. My feet are paying for it. I'm dumb.

Karen's birthday was on Friday, so we went out for a bday dinner at Cuchi Cuchi Thurs night. Wicked expensive, but very delicious:

Fried Artichoke Hearts (Italy) - filled w/ gorgonzola, pistachios & basil
Couscous (Morocco)

Then we went to Make It New... at least for a bit.

Christina and Ricardo bought champagne!

I headed home early cause I had a conference call in the morning, but it was a good night!

Work was interesting.. I finally told some of my coworkers about my move, including our "office mom" - who is in the know about all the inner workings of the company. She got me a bit worried - since my boss hasn't talked to HR and whatnot about me going. I sat at my desk for like an hour pale as a ghost, wondering if this whole thing was gonna fall through.

But it didn't. Or hasn't yet..

Basically my boss DID talk to his boss, who then talked to the CEO, and they think me moving is a great opportunity. They want me to create a new role for myself, with more responsibility (depending on how my boss' position changes.) It looks like I'll be dealing a bit more closely with the labels, but I'm not sure what capacity yet. I don't know if this is a "promotion".. we'll see how things develop.. But ya, whew whew.

Anyyyyway. This weekend Colleen was in town visiting her BFF Patty, who's starting at MIT. I met up with them for dinner at Cambridge 1 and we caught up on the last 6+ months. Then we stopped by Charlie's and headed to Vib's for his moving-out-of-Inman party.

ok I'm bored of blogging. Thanks!

The biggest question is whether Costa Rica is ready for the onesie or not.

Jenny texted me at 3am from Hawaii this morning to tell me that Mike proposed!! I don't have any detailed besides it being on Kamaole Beach 3 at sunset.

They first got together during our junior year of college (I think?) and have been together ever since. I am happyyyyy for them.

I've been listen to Japandroid's Post-Nothing tons lately and I just their p-fork review and it perfectly summed up why I love it.

"Disliking teen-pop gets you cast as some sort of rockist Luddite these days, but beyond the fact that most of it doesn't sound like stuff I'd have wanted to hear as a high schooler, it doesn't feel like music for teens either. (Hell, it's more tween-pop than teen-pop anyway.) But what about the kind of stuff that, say, the "1979" video lionized-- breaking into your folks' liquor cabinet, obliterating the speed limit despite just getting your learner's permit, leaving your hometown for the first time and discovering how small it feels. What about jamming out with your best bud and deciding to call it a band?"

Went to City Hall to meet up with Doug and Finch last night - ended up at a wine bar (which I will never do again! So expensive!!!) I rarely get to see Finch, so it was a treat. We met my first SXSW - I let him borrow my shoes and we walked around Austin talking about music and me starting work for Pirate. He's incredibly sincere and maybe a bit of a dreamer - it was fun to lounge around him and Doug and catch up.

They headed home with Steve after the Lucero, and I went to JJ Foleys with Carl, Keri, Kevin and Josh... Then went to GS and sat there after closing talking to Tim and Melissa and everyone. It was a great night. These are people I will miss.

I slept in today and wandered around Davis this afternoon.. Been trying to pack up my room - but it seems like such a daunting task. I really should just get rid of everything, but that's always been hard to do.. Been trying to figure out what I'll actually need and use in NYC and what should be trashed. I wish I didn't own so much STUFF!!!!!

New obsession...

Hurricane Bill is headed for MA! Lovely! Right now it's all sunny with birds chirping, but hours from now, it's gonna be windy and wet and hurricaney...

Been laying low all week - it really is easy on the wallet! Lots of home cooked meals, some packing, too much day dreaming etc. I leave for Costa Rica 2 weeks from now. I will an official resident of New York City 6 weeks from now.

It's all happening.

Michael P called me last night while I was picking up some new boots from TJ Maxx (I didn't mean to find boots, I meant to find things for Costa Rica...) and convinced me to go to Other Side to meet up with him and Heather (they're in town for a wedding) and some friends. So I went, and we drank PBR (blech!) Headed over to Middle East, where some homeless man said I was devastating. Lots of weirdos out last night...

Doug and Finch are on their way to Boston - Braden is coming in on Sunday, and my dearest Colleen arrives Thursday (!) This should make this week go fast.

Vacation is so sooooon. I hope I see one of these:

Bought a new dress for the trip. Not suited for jungle exploring, but well suited for drinking a fruit drink on the beach

My new camera came this week! It's beautiful and it makes me nervous to use it. I will have to bust it out and see what it can do.

The next month and a half will be crazy! Surprisingly, I feel pretty chill.

CHILLLLLLL.

I bought a new camera because I am crazy and apparently think that money is abundant and free flowing like water (not true!)

Anyway, it should arrive this week and I will make sweet sweet camera love to it... plus this blog will be a bit more interesting to look at.

I did it!

I met my new landlord and handed her a deposit for the apartment. It was good to see the apartment again - I've been working from pictures and a fading memory. The bedroom is bigger than mine now (!) and I think there'll be a enough room to comfortably make a work space and living room space in the main room. Kitchen is killer.. I am going to cook so many delicious meals there!!

One plus of working from home is that I can save on money by making my lunch every day and make it a bit easier to eat healthy. There's a good-sized grocery store close by and I have visions of finding some specialty food store so I can try lots of new recipes.

I got the 1st and 2nd of October off of work, and I've halfway convinced Doug to help me move..

So yeah.. As of Oct 1st, I will be a resident of Greenpoint in Brooklyn.

Ran around the city with Heather, Sarah, Michael, James, Garrett and Kelly last night. Went to a bar that used to be a massage parlor.. aptly named Happy Ending. Met up with Maria late and hung out on a rooftop with an incredibly view.

Now I'm sitting on the couch, waiting for pizza, and dreading going home.. Probably gonna get home too late to take the T! Awesome...

Wow oh wow @ this week. My life has been work, working out, cooking, sleep. Over and over. I'm beat. I cooked beets. I gave myself the day off from the gym once I realized it was 9pm and I was practically comatose. Gahh.

Boss is in town, and the project I've been working on FINALLY launched (4 months behind schedule.. not my fault!) so things have been especially chaotic. I dream of powerpoint.

One + about the boss being in town was getting to nag him (in person!) about the NYC move situation. And talk to him for a half hour about how to make a good pizza, but that's beside the point. Anyway, a couple of days ago, he said they were looking at 1 of 3 options regarding my move.

1. my job ends in October, and I move.
2. I move in October, my job comes with me, and they slowly transition me out.
3. I move in October and they create a new position for me which has more to do with label relationships than carrier relationships.

Obviously 2 or 3 would be ideal, 1 would cause panic. While he didn't have a final answer for me today, he seemed fairly confident that it wouldn't be #1 - especially because he's going on vacation for 2 weeks, and then I'm on vacation for a 1 1/2 weeks, and then it's practically October. So basically that means my job is coming with me (like 88% sure,) I do not have to freak out about rent etc. I'll have time to look for a new job if needed, or get to try out a new role in my company if needed.

HOORAY!!!

This also means I can buy a couch, pans and whatever else I need for my new apartment. I haven't lived alone since 2002. I am going to walk around in my underwear ALL the time.

I told my mom the good job news and she proceeded to insult my decorating taste. Thanks ma! Sorry I don't like beige and light blue!

I'll show her...

Going to New York Saturday to meet my Polish landlords and look at the place again. Need to get my camera fixed! So many things to do...

Lazy weekend interjected with moments of greatness.

#1. After stopping by an art show near Fenway with Gabi, I hopped on the train to Allston for the Harvey Danger show at Harper's Ferry. Opening up were Organ Beats (eh) and Magic Magic (yah!) Laura, Scott and Kevin were my +3 for the show - we got a prime spot up front. They played for like 2 hours - including a new song! No complaints on the setlist - though they didn't play Wooly Muffler. I was told the show was about 50 people away from being sold out - and it was great to look around and see so many people geeking out (Laura claims that there was a girl in the front crying?? hmm...) and singing along. I don't think I stopped smiling the entire show. Sad that they're calling it quits - but happy they were able to come through Boston on the way out.

#2. Saturday was boring. I looked at craigslist for 800 hours. This terrible new apartment obsession will be the death of me. I picked out a couch that I want to get (every time I say something like this, it must be followed with "if everything works out.") It folds out into a bed for future guests.

I am hoping my boss will talk to his boss and a job situation can be worked out.. and then hopefully I can go talk to the landlords next weekend. 1 1/2 months left - costa rica. Gah gah. I'm going to blog about this until then. It's annoying and I apologize.

#3. I finished Man Men season 2 today - just in time for season 3 next week! Emily and I also went and saw Julie/Julia at the Somerville Theater.. which was adorable and charming. I recommend it! See it with your lady friends! We swung by Goodwill after and I scored a pretty blue/green vase, framed painting, a Scandinavian cookbook (for Brooke, who just married a Dane) and a pair of high boots.

Did I mention my credit card got stolen last week? Cause it did.

Also, keep Grandpa John in your thoughts, along with Tante.

I will be in Costa Rica this time next month! That means 4 weeks of exercising my brain off, cooking copious vegetables and trying to save money by staying in and watching french films that make me fall asleep.

Ah yes, end of summer..

New York was fun - ran around with French speaking friends of Maria (they taught me how to say "you can't leave yet!" and I told them I wanted ham - one of the only things I remember from french class..) We sat in Maria's backyard one nice evening and I sighed and felt extremely content.

Maria, Jordan, Brooke and I also ventured to Fire Island - which was a day-long adventure. Missed the train, waited for the 1pm, transferred, took another train, took a ferry, and finally found ourselves on a stretch of white sand, wild ocean and very aggressive mosquitoes. My camera is broken, but here's a google image..

We jumped waves (I got knocked down so hard that I have a bruise on my shin,) lounged, snacked, and swam some more. It was a great day. So great that we almost missed the last ferry/train back. Our ferry was filled with overly tan, drunk, new york moms. How grand.

Went to Shakespeare on the Common in Boston on Tuesday with Nate, Laura, Anne Marie and Andy. It was A Comedy of Errors - set in 1930's Miami. It was perfect night - warm with a breeze. Play was great too!

Check out the classy ad

Tomorrow is the last Harvey Danger show in Boston (ever! Boo!) which I'm very much looking forward to... even though it's a bit sad. Video!

Gonna try to hit up the beach this weekend and Lauren & Karen's Big Lebowski themed party.

Hopefully going to NYC next weekend to nail down a lease and get all the balls rolling for real. Only a few weeks to make this happen! Jon is already calling dibs on my bedroom and I'm wondering how many boxes I'm going to need...
