A post in which I complain a little so that my friends don't have to hear me complain in person

I've essentially been looking for a job for 2-3 months. 2-3 months of looking at monster, craigslist, yahoo, bostonjobs.com and every other site I could come up with. Several interviews. Two second interviews. Some companies I like, some that I don't like. I know this is typical for a job hunt, and I'm trying to keep up energy, but at the moment, I'm losing steam. It's difficult to keep the spirits up, the motivation going and everything else that is required for this process. I want a job that I actually enjoy, that I am excited about... but as this goes on I'm thinking of settling for "okay job that bores me so that I can pay my rent." I need a 2nd (or 3rd wind.) I'm tired of thinking about it, talking about it and worrying about it. It's not healthy to be this focused on one thing, but if I don't keep focused, a job won't magically appear. That's it, that's all.. onto the weekend.

Friday is was dinner at the Independent, my favorite place to eat the same thing. The next morning Hunter and I got up to go to BU for the extras casting of Ashecliffe, a new Martin Scorseses movie (starring Leonardo Dicaprio!) that they are filming in Boston. Here was the ad:

WANT TO BE IN A MOVIE?

New Scorsese film shoots in Massachusetts!

Grant Wilfley Casting is holding an open call in Boston to cast extras for the feature film ASHECLIFFE directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This film is set in the 1950s in a mental institution with flashbacks to a WWII concentration camp. Casting for people to play mental institution staff (doctors, nurses, orderlies, guards), mental patients (including interesting, quirky or unusual character faces), the malnourished and emaciated concentration camp prisoners (many of whom will have their heads shaved), and people to play WWII American and German soldiers (young athletic types, people with military or law enforcement experience and knowledge of firearms, police officers, fire fighters, ROTC, etc). Seeking men who are willing to have their hair cut short and women with natural-looking hair color, no highlights. Specifically seeking Caucasian and African American people. Filming begins in Boston, Taunton, & Medfield area March 2008.

Even though we had to wait in line for nearly four hours, just so they could take our picture in two seconds, it was interesting to see all the local weirdos it brought out.. Like the career-extra who had headshots and was in 27 Dresses and was explaining to everyone around him how the process worked. Or the lady who looked like a nastier Janice Dickinson (it is possible.) Or the people who obviously would be perfect for the mental institution. I'm sure that with my malnurished physique I'll be perfect for the concentration camp.

Heather was in town on Saturday, so I ran around with that group of people for a bit. I realize more and more every day how much I DON'T leave the Somerville/Cambridge area.. like ever. For work, but other than that..

Saturday I went to a clothing swap in Somerville yesterday afternoon. It was in this open studio/art space and there were 6 or 7 of us who brought stuff to swap. I got rid of a lot of stuff that's been hanging around my closet unworn and picked up two sweaters, a dress, a plaid coat, a gold tank (anne klein!) and two dress shirts.. Everything was free!! It was fantastic.

Dinner with Cat and Pete this week.. new roommate moving in.. Rent due. Ugh.

Tell the world what kind of job you want so we can all ask our friends if they're hiring. PR? Radio Promo? Advertising? Writing? Financial?
