Brooke is in from NYC and Henning is in from Norway - a little stop over before Austin. We've danced, we've drank, we've eaten (a lot) and walked around the entire city (heyo Freedom Trail.)

Washington, not Paul Revere. Whoops.

Brooke convinced us to go to the top of Bunker Hill monument. 294 steps to the top. Spiral cement staircase. My worst nightmare. Brought me back to the time we climbed up the Statue of Liberty when I was 13. Many steps, little windows, near heart attack. But ohh the views

Brooke downloaded skype to my laptop and we had a lovely little chat with her Danish friend

I'm pretty exhausted and I can't believe I'm going to be in Austin in two days. Aghhh.

Sand storm engulfing the capitol of Saudi Arabia. Whoa.

Yves Marchand & Romain Meffre photo project about Detroit

The ruins of Detroit

At the beginning of the 20th Century, the city of Detroit
developed rapidly thanks to the automobile industry and until
the 50's, its population rose to almost 2 million people.
At this time, it was the 4th most important city in the United States.

During the 60's, disindustrialization and violent riots caused a large
migration of the middle-class people outside the metropolis area.
Then until the end of the 90's, "Motor City" lost more than half of its population.

Today, despite a beginning of revitalization, a lot of the luxuous hotels, theaters, apartments, stores and office buildings built in the prosperous era remain vacant.

Pictures here

They've also taken sets of industrial factories in East Germany and abandoned theaters in America..

When I move away from Boston one day and make nostalgic trips back, hitting up Gourmet Dumpling House will be on my list.

Between the four of us - me, Hunter, Dom and Alex - we plowed through scallion pancake, fried tofu, vegetarian ravioli, sesame chicken, braised tofu with scallion and vegetables and sauteed broccoli w/garlic.

Agh so good. So full. Best Chinese in the city.. hands down.

In a little over two weeks, I'll be here

In about 2 1/2 months I'll be here:

Austin is for SXSW, Chicago is to hang with Melissa.

I'm trying to travel a bit more this year - not just to WA or whatever.. I want to see some new places.. Hunter and I are thinking of L.A. at some point in the summer.. and I'm trying to save for something out of the country..

After getting nearly a foot of snow on March 1st, I've about had it with Boston.

It does look pretty.. but not after three months of this

Alex is flying in tomorrow for some bro-time (I wish Colleen were coming too : ( ) And Brooke and Henning will be in from NYC and Norway next weekend. Planning a spring-themed dinner party.

Spring is comin... spring is coming.. I am trying to come out of the coma.
