Janell, Caitlin and I went apartment hunting today. It took about 4 hours to look at 6 places. The first hour was spent waiting for the realty guy to show up and then, finding out that the one he was supposed to show us had been rented, looking up some other options. So off we went....

#1 3br duplex in JP
Even though this was unappealing from the outside (well and the backyard,) the inside wasn't bad.. big kitchen, nice living room.. okay sized bedrooms, two of which had porches (plus one additional on the first floor.) Then the tenants came home and told us the reason they were moving out was cause they had the worst landlords ever. Heat shut off, broken fridge/stove etc. Thanks but no thanks!

#2 3-4 br on Linden St.
Ummm.. awkward kitchen with virtually no counterspace, weird long hallways and no living room. I think this was the place that had windew hanging from the light fixture so that you could turn it on. Sketchy location. No thanks.

#3 3br on Ashford
Entryway smelled like piss. Weird corner kitchen. Shared balconey (which had a B.B. gun on it. Lazy dirty college boys slacking away. No dining area. Ugh.

#4 3+ br on Linden St.
Nice kitchen, okay bedrooms.. Living room with no windows. Weird lady with a dog. Not too bad but the area was surrounded by trash. Too close to the highway. Ehhhh.

#5 3br in Brighton
Good sized bedrooms, no dining area, lousy kitchen, far away from everything, ugly carpet, new bathroom. Getting a little better.

#6 3br in Oak Square
Nice entryway, huge bedrooms, big kitchen, back porch area, washer/dryer, nicely painted, big closets. Bus stop right next door, YMCA down the street.. Very promising.


Brighton isn't my ideal location, but this apartment was pretty damn incredible, especially for the price.. Not sure everyone is agreed about it, but man, it looks like it would be nice and homey with plenty of room for cooking and whatnot. Definite possibility.

I'm pretty exhausted from running around today. There's a big ol' party happening in Brighton tonight but it's hard to get out when it's rainy and dark and my body really wants to sleeep... agh.
