music machinery, verbal wizardry

Snow + half of New York sick = canceled trip. Endless Boston continues forever and ever.

On a good note, Jason came over last night and fixed my computer, you know, just cause he likes to do that. He said my computer thought it was 1968. Stupid computer.

I spent much of last night listening to music from 2003 in my bedroom alone. And texting sappy things to old friends. Well, I guess Melissa's just said "I just listened to the Red Light Sting for 30 seconds," but there were sappy texts in there, I swear.

Back to hiding in my sunlit dark hole.

For some reason, this short week seemed like a really long one, but it's alright because I am finally, FINALLY going to New York this weekend. I decided it on Wednesday that I couldn't keep procrastinating and that I should go for it. It's been since July, which is the longest (by far) I've gone without making a trip down. Friends have been texted, (some) plans have been made. (Calley, I will send Maria your love.)

This week has been fairly laid back overall. I watched Burn to Shine with Laura at Great Scott on Tuesday, which made us both a little homesick. It may not be until December that I'm able to go back to WA, so I've got a ways to go. I did a bit of laundry/cooking/cleaning throughout the week and took it easy. The bit of nice weather we had was a good motivater. I'm much more productive when I wake up to bright sunlight in the morning.

Hunter got a call back from the ASHCLIFFE extras casting people yesterday. He is officially a German soldier in the movie and starts filming in a couple weeks. I am excited to see the lame military haircut they give him. Ahaha. I'm really happy for him and I can't wait to see the final film. I also think it's a little ironic that I was an extra in a movie with Heath Ledger and now he's an extra in a movie starring Michelle Williams. It's almost as weird as how his ancestor shot my ancestor in the head.

Ok ok ok. Quick update before I have to clean my room and run back down to Union Square for dinner with Nate and Luke.

On top of my dead computer, our internet went out, so I've been miles away from writing in this damn thing. Also, my Flickr Pro account elapsed, and I haven't taken any new pictures anyway, so everything's snoring and boring.

I started the new job two weeks ago and am settling into my duties there. So far it's been a fair amount of QA and content management and looking at the Ukranian language. Since the Boston office is so small, I don't have a lot of co-workers to get to know, so I've been spending most lunch breaks wandering around the area by my office. We're located right between Chinatown, Downtown Crossing and right by the Boston Common, so there's lots of exploring to do.. lots of people to look at and lots of stores to spend my money in when I get off work. Ah it's blessing and a curse. I am hoping to spend my lunch hour in the park once the weather gets nice (slowly but surely.)

New roommate is a good dude and his presence has already shifted the aparment in a positive way. Nothing like someone offering a (good) beer as soon as you get home from work!

Our Valentine's Day fondue dinner was.. interesting. The beers were delicious, but the food was slightly hard to come by, so we spent most of the two hours in the front room of the Independent drinking the Dogfish Head.

Movies I have seen recently: Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Gone Baby Gone and 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 Days.

Also, it must be mentioned, that ironically, as I step into my new position, Hunter steps out of his. Both him and Nate were laid off from Choicestream on Friday. It wasn't entirely unexpected, but that didn't make things any easier. Hunter plans on taking it easy for a bit and the upside of this is that he'll be able to go to Italy with his family next month and do a few other things that he didn't think were possible before. I told him that this whole thing is payback for him supporting my miserable job hunt.. But I have a feeling that he'll deal with it a bit better than me.

Today's my mom's birthday. She's in the mountains naturally.

That is all. Send me emails.

I just made reservations for Valentine's Day, which will include four of my favorite things. Hunter, The Independent, Beer and Cheese. Perhaps not in that order. It'll be hard to top last year's insane dinner at Tangerino (complete with belly dancers,) but the plus is that The Independent is within walking distance of H's apartment.

Today is my last day temping and happens to be my first day temping at a new place. After the luxury of the 28th floor, it's hard to crammed into this little space in Cambridge, shipping some sort of tumor material in dry ice, but whatever. Tomorrow will be the first day at New Amazing Job.

This weekend was fairly jam-packed with friend hanging. I mean, lots and lots of it. Laura and I grabbed dinner at Shay's on Friday and then Hunter and I fell asleep watching Smiley Face. The next day I FINALLY cleaned my room, saw U23D (yes, exactly) and met up with some people at Burk's in Inman. The new roommate is officially here, but I haven't had a chance to talk to him besides getting his approval to call him JB. Sunday was the Superbowl, but I guess the best thing about the game ended up being the pizza we ate at Pete and Cat's.

This week is pretty chillllll. Chili cookoff on Sunday that I need to mentally prepare for.

My last post spoke too soon.

I start New Amazing Job on Tuesday. :)
