Get Dwn 2 Bsnss

If you're gonna be in NYC on June 16th, RSVP to our 800th annual Flag Day Party here

Come to this on Friday:

My living situation for next year is a little more precarious than I planned on as of today. So if you know of any lovely people (preferably girls) who I might enjoy living with (along with Caitlin,) let me know. And if someone could please tell Cait to come back from Ohio, that would be great. I miss her.

Next week starts a period of Change, which I am looking forward to/nervous about. This might be the summer of "up in the air" but hopefully it'll all settle down by fall and everything will be well and good.

Let the good times roll yo.

You know those people who spend so much time with their kids that they no longer know how to speak like adults? It's all "baby hafta go pee-pee?" "ohhh u got a boo boo??" Well, after 4 days of watching Roger, I'm about on their level. Except it's "WANNA GO OUTSIDE?!?!" "GOOD BOOOOOY" "NO BARK!"

He is cute though. He's passed out beside me with his head on my John Vanderslice pillow.

That was pretty much my weekend. Lots of movies and feedings and naps. And a few hours at the Great Scott BBQ, where people were looooooving my guacamole.

Laura and I went and saw Once this afternoon. It was an enjoyable story although the sound quality was a little piercing and the lead actor (Glen from The Frames) looked a little too much like Luke Guidici. Since we're working the soundtrack I already knew all the songs, so it diluted the mystery a bit.. but yeah, overall I liked it. And the popcorn we got was delicious.

I finally purchased my tix to NC. There was a lot of back and forth in my head, like "do I really want the first time I meet the majority of Hunter's family to be while I'm wearing a swimsuit?".. stupid stuff like that. But I'm in. From July 4th-8th, I'm in. I have this to look forward to:

Yesterday I had a meeting that I had to dress up for in the morning. So I did. Heels and all. In 90 degree weather. I did pretty well at first, I don't think I looked too disheveled or like I'd just walked throught a rainstorm (read: sweatstorm.) Those heels were a bitch though. Humidity mixed with stiff material rubbing= ehhhh.

But I brought shoes to change into. Nice lazy day slip ons. Or I thought I did. I mean, I brought one of them. So I was stuck with the heels. Just for the walk to the T and from the T to my apartment. Not that far.

I managed to make it, albeit with a large blister on each ankle. I was close to crying in pain, but I made it. My heel was ripped open, I put a bandaid on it.

Then I tried to go to sleep last night. My ankle was burning. I was literally writhing in my bed crying for it to stop. It was too late to go to the drug store. I took some aspirin. I wondered if my entire foot was going to turn green and fall off. All I wanted was some fucking neosporin! Magical, magical neosporin!

My question is, since I didn't remove the ripped skin of the blister, is it just going to absorb back into my body? Cause I tried to take it off last night but it would not remove itself from the wound.

I'm being gross right now and it's only 7am. There's a puppy at my feet.

Last night I stayed in to watch Roger. Woo hoo hoo, another Friday night in. I bet you're starting to worry.

I'm thinking of making an escape next weekend. We'll see how it goes.

Meet Roger

Even though he tried to bite my eyeball this morning, Roger is sooooooooooooooo cute. AGH!

Must drag self out of room now that I have finished ALL of Six Feet Under and cried for a good five minutes. Is it already 5pm? Agh!

Mr. Lincoln

There's been two articles about Abraham Lincoln on CNN in the last two days. I also had a dream with him in it a few days ago. What's with all the Lincoln?

The latest article says that Lincoln may have lived if he had been shot now instead of in the 1800's. Oh really? Next you're gonna tell me that people would have been able to communicate faster if they had email in the 1600's.

Anyway, props to Lincoln. He's family.

The Puppy arrived about 45 minutes ago and has peed twice and pooped once. In our apartment. I got to watch Nate clean it up, which was pretty funny. Sorry Nate, but it was.

Rani Bisto

Last night was Indian food Round 2 at Rani Bisto, which is about 5 minutes from my place.

Sabzi Pakora: Potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and chili dumplings served with spicy sauce

Garlic Naan: Leavened handmade bread baked in Tandoori oven

Masala Dosa: Dosa rolled with potatoes and herbs and served with coconut chutney and sambhar (lentil stew)

Lamb Vindaloo (I think??): a hot and spicy curry

Wolaver Organic IPA

I should really pay more attention to what Hunter orders. I know that he ordered it extra spicy and it was lamb. I was too focused on how gigantic my Dosa was. I only ate half.

Right now Hunter's on a plane to Hilton Head, SC for a family wedding. We stocked him up with some airborne and tissues last night to combat his cold. I also introduced him to the wonder that is Mentholatum. When I cuddled up next to him he accused me of trying to get in on his vapors.. maybe I was, maybe I was.

With him out of town, I am free to do all the creepy staring at Mando Diao as I want to on Saturday night. From a distance of course. Like one might admire a nice painting or a beautiful skyline. Except with Swedish accents.

Last night I had a dream that Alyssa told me I couldn't DJ her wedding anymore cause I had supposedly written some really mean story about The Teeth that was published in CMJ. I was really upset and kept telling her how much I loved them and she just said "I thought you supported independent artists!" I kept wondering if someone had broken into my myspace and submitted the story to CMJ and I kept trying to get ahold of Matthew Field to tell him it wasn't me that wrote it! So tragic! Then I dreamed I was working at Papa Murphy's and kept having to explain how to stretch a pizza skin to my stupid co-workers. Stupid life!

Delightful

Mason Proper played on MTV Canada and the result is this amazing video that makes me feel like I'm watching a Fall Out Boy show at House of Blues. The lights! The camera angles! Magic!

Last night we had a low-key birthday celebration for Laura at Deep Ellum where we explained to Michael Pace what a "muffin top" is and discussed whether saying someone has an "apple-bottom" is a compliment or not. The full-out birthday celebration will commence tomorrow night and I will stumble home to meet the new resident at 219.

I've been listening to the new Art Brut the last two days and I like it!

it starts!

LION SQEAK TOY! EEEEE!!!!

EEEE!!

The Cave is getting a puppy. Actually, Nate is, but since I live here I get to give it all the annoying attention I want. Its name is Roger and it's a 2 month-old Beagle-Chihuahua mix. Expect tons of puppy pix in the near future. It's gonna be way sickeningly cute.

Tonight I'm heading out for some live band karaoke/bowling at the Milky Way. I've never been to the Milky Way. Actually I've barely been to Jamaica Plain. There's a first time for everything!

Laura's birthday is tomorrow! She was my first Boston girlfriend and first Boston-by-way-of-Seattle girlfriend. We've spent many evenings eating popcorn and making fun of Tyra Banks and drinking wine. She is, in a way, a lifesaver. I mean, who else would buy the deluxe version of Showgirls at 6pm in the evening on a Tuesday?

I'm getting a bike soon! And a helmet! I don't remember the last time I rode a bike, but soon I will be out there with the rest of the cool bike kids. So frightening.

Make sure to listen to my radio show tomorrow from 10am-2pm EST.. click here to stream!

I listened to Mason Proper today and suddenly missed being in New York. I've seen them the last few times I've been there so I guess that Moth is sorta becoming my NYC soundtrack as strange as it sounds. Anyway, there's quite a few people I've been missing down there... need to make time...agh.

The new High Strung record came out today! They're going to be in town Tuesday. Go see them at TT's.

My room is too warm.. time to get outside.

Hooligans!

I am currently listening to The Tough Alliance, who sorta sound like what Of Montreal would have sounded like in the 1980's in Sweden.

From Wikipedia: "Their live shows have also been given much attention in the Swedish media when they often swing baseball bats on stage and sing to recorded music. Their critics claim they glorify violence in general and hooliganism in particular, something The Tough Alliance denies. During a show in Stockholm, Sweden, the two band members were thrown off stage after swinging a baseball bat."

Weird pop + baseball bats= magic!

They also share my love for dolphins (thanks H)

Last night was dinner at Taberna de Haro on Beacon (can't find the menu online, so i'm guessing on names)

Queso de Cabra: goat cheese and tomato on bread
Chorizo somethingorother
Lightly braised eggplant, peppers and onions with poached egg.
some sort of deep fried haddock? with paprika
Sangria

Sorry my explanations are not that great..The place had a nice atmosphere and I think I'd go back and test out a few other things on the menu. I got to admire a skinned animal leg from where i was sitting! Nice walk from my apartment on a warm night. Ooo.

Drinking Sangria reminded me of when Kate Lebo used to make her own during college.. Perhaps I will do the same this summer and then drink it in the kiddie pool I am forever planning on putting in the alley.

Tonight I'm seeing LCD Soundsystem at Avalon.

My first radio show for RadioYou will be played on Wednesday, May 16th from 10am-2pm EST. I think you can listen at www.radioyouboston.com. I swear they'll get better! I'm gonna be recording a new one every Monday night.

Stream episodes of Wonder Years here

Don't forget your mother(s) this weekend.

Suprisezz

Michael Pace threw a suprise party for his Lady on Saturday, so we all came and ate his 7-layer bean dip. mmmm.

This week is pretty slow. I need a LAKE to swim in.

Oh and I have and <3 the new Imperial Teen. AHAHAAHA ON YOU.

I think I will watch loads of Wonder Years tonight, thanks.

Hunter and I just watched five hours of Planet Earth. Actually, five hours of Planet Earth on blue ray disk on an HDTV. I'm not even sure what that means except it was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaal niiiiiiiiice to looooooook atttttttttt.

And it was. In fact, all the shots were so beautiful that it makes me want to travel to those places and ruin them with my American tourist assholeness. Kidding! But really though, how amazing is that crazy dancing bird from the first episode?

More tomorrow.. all that laying around made me tired!

Thursday, May 03, 2007

My mom called me at 9:30am to ask me why I had the day off. Correction, my mom WOKE ME UP at 9:30am to ask me why I had the day off. I never really sleep in, but today had high potential, so she only saw it fit to ruin it! aagagagga. Oh, so I'm awake now.

I have the day off (and tomorrow too) cause Ben King is finally in town. We spent last night drinking whiskey and playing the marble game and going to bars. Hunter came over and we all went to Tsunami (you know, cause I hadn't been there in a week?) Once again, sweet potato roll= amazing!

So yeah I have the day off and I'm awake.

That is all.
